Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start saving; everything stays on your device. Sign in (free) to get AI meanings and to sync across your devices.
Which languages can I learn?
Words and phrases in any language: the app finds the language of each word you save. Meanings are explained in English, French or Spanish, up to three of them side by side, and the app itself speaks all three. Arabic and Chinese are on the way.
How is this different from flashcards?
You never make cards, and you never grade yourself. You save what you meet; RetainWord writes the material, picks the question type and decides when you see it again.
What happens if I skip a few days?
Nothing bad. There are no streaks. When you come back, the reviews that matter most come first and the rest are spread over the following days.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Capture and review work without a connection, and everything syncs when you are back online.
Can I take my words with me?
